Japan has a different attitude to robots than the West. Instead of Frankenstein and Terminator “Do not play God and create life” themes, Japanese have the Shinto/Buddhist animist idea that mountains, rivers, animals, and artificial objects have their own spirits and are non-human persons. Let’s look at some series with a different view of non-human intelligences and ethics!
